Airbnb Wedding Venues in Texas: Can You Get Married at an Airbnb? (2026)

The idea is irresistible: rent a gorgeous house for the weekend, fill the bedrooms with your favorite people, say your vows in the backyard and keep the party going by the pool. That is why so many Texas couples search for "Airbnb wedding venues."

The catch is that most vacation rentals are not allowed to host weddings, and booking one without permission can end with a cancelled reservation a week before your date. This guide explains what Airbnb's own rules actually say, the five things to check before you book any rental for a wedding, and then lists 15 Texas estates and ranches with on-site lodging that openly host weddings on their own websites, so you get the Airbnb feel without the risk.

Can You Get Married at an Airbnb?

Short answer: only if the host explicitly allows it, and only if the celebration stays small and quiet enough to fit Airbnb's rules and local law. An elopement on the back porch with an officiant, a photographer and a handful of family members is very different from a 60-person reception with a DJ, and Airbnb, your host, your city and the neighbors will all treat those two events differently.

Couples usually end up in one of three situations:

  • The listing says no events. This is the default for most homes. Holding a wedding anyway puts the reservation, your deposit and the date at risk.
  • The host allows a small, approved gathering. Workable for elopements and very small ceremonies, as long as you get the guest count, hours and vendor list approved in writing.
  • The property is a licensed event venue that also has lodging. This is what most people actually mean by an "Airbnb wedding venue": an estate or ranch that sells wedding packages directly, with contracted event hours, a written noise policy and bedrooms for the wedding party. Every venue on the list below falls into this group.

What Airbnb's Party and Event Policy Actually Says

Airbnb's rules live in its Community Disturbance Policy. As of October 2026 it does not allow "open-invite gatherings, for example parties advertised publicly or on social media," or "disruptive gatherings and other community disturbances, regardless of size." Excessive noise, excessive visitors, parking nuisances and trash are listed as examples of disturbances. The policy also bars "advertising listings as party friendly," which is why you will rarely see a listing that openly markets itself as a wedding venue.

Airbnb backs this up with enforcement. Its help center says it may block certain reservations it considers higher risk for unauthorized parties, and that lesser disturbances can draw warnings while repeated or severe ones can lead to account or listing suspension or removal, for guests and hosts alike.

Within those limits, each host decides. Airbnb's guidance for hosts lists standard house rules that hosts can set for events, quiet hours and the maximum number of guests. So the real answer to "does Airbnb allow weddings?" is that Airbnb never allows a disruptive party, and a quiet, approved event is up to the individual host's house rules. Read the "Events" line in the listing, then message the host before booking with your exact plan.

Rule of thumb: if you need to keep the wedding a secret from the host, you do not have a venue. You have a reservation that can be cancelled.

5 Things to Check Before Booking Any Rental for a Wedding

1. Written host permission

Get the host's approval in writing, ideally in the booking platform's message thread or in a separate event agreement. Include the date, ceremony and reception hours, total guest count (including vendors), whether amplified music is allowed, and where guests will park.

2. City rules, permits and noise ordinances

Texas cities and counties set their own rules for short-term rentals, noise, parking, tents and fire safety, and many neighborhoods add HOA deed restrictions on top. A ceremony that is fine on a rural ranch may break a city noise ordinance or an HOA rule in a subdivision. Ask the host which permits apply, then confirm with the city or county yourself; event-ready venues usually know the answer immediately.

3. Occupancy and parking limits

Overnight capacity and event capacity are different numbers. A house that sleeps 16 may only be allowed a few extra daytime visitors under its rental rules. Rock Lake Retreats near College Station, for example, caps standard short-term stays at its lodge at eight overnight guests and 12 people on the property, even though it hosts weddings separately under event packages. Ask how many people are allowed on site at once and where every car will go, because street parking is one of the fastest ways to draw a complaint.

4. Event insurance and vendor paperwork

A host's coverage may be written for overnight stays rather than events. Many hosts and venues ask couples to buy a one-day event liability policy and ask caterers, bartenders and rental companies to show proof of their own insurance. If alcohol is served, Texas venues commonly require a TABC-certified bartender rather than a self-serve bar. Get every requirement in writing before you pay a deposit.

5. Hours, cleanup and the house itself

Confirm load-in and load-out times, the hour music must stop, who handles trash and rentals, and what the security deposit covers. Ask whether the kitchen can be used by a caterer, whether candles and sparklers are allowed, and whether there is an indoor backup if it rains.

The Penrose House: The Airbnb Feel, Built for Weddings

Location: Princeton, TX (Collin County) | Event capacity: up to 50 guests | Lodging: 7 bedrooms, sleeps 28 | Style: private modern estate on 5 gated acres

The Penrose House is also known as a vacation rental, rated 5.0 across Airbnb, VRBO and Google. But stays booked as a rental are for overnight use only, with no events allowed. Weddings are booked directly with us, under a written event agreement, which is what makes them work.

That is the difference between a rental and a private estate set up for events. Your group has the entire gated property for the weekend, with no other events sharing the day. Wedding weekends include a two-night stay, so the wedding party and family can get ready, celebrate and wake up together on the estate. A dedicated on-site venue manager comes with every booking, and the house rules are written for celebrations rather than against them:

  • Clear event hours and a written noise policy. Outdoor amplified music runs until 11:00 p.m. and indoor music in the Plus One Lounge continues until 1:00 a.m., so the party moves inside instead of shutting down.
  • Vendor freedom with real standards. Bring any licensed, insured caterer, photographer, florist or DJ, or choose from our preferred partners. Bartenders need current TABC certification.
  • Room for everyone. Seven designer bedrooms sleep up to 28, and a Bridal Get Ready Room has 10 vanity stations.
  • Ceremony spaces with a rain plan. Choose the Penrose Garden, Firepit Pavilion, poolside deck, covered deck or the indoor Living Room.
  • Resort amenities included. Heated pool with swim-up bar, hot tub, pickleball, mini-golf, sunken fire pit and the 50-guest Plus One Lounge.

Frequently Asked Questions About Airbnb Weddings

Can you get married at an Airbnb?

Sometimes, but only with the host's explicit permission. Airbnb's Community Disturbance Policy bans disruptive gatherings of any size and open-invite parties, and hosts set their own house rules for events and maximum guests. A small, quiet ceremony that the host has approved in writing can work; a full reception with amplified music usually belongs at a property that is set up and contracted for events.

Does Airbnb allow weddings or parties?

Airbnb does not allow open-invite parties, disruptive gatherings or other community disturbances during a reservation, and it does not let hosts advertise listings as party friendly. It may also block reservations it considers higher risk for unauthorized parties. Whether a quiet, approved event is allowed depends on the individual host's house rules.

Do I need a permit to have a wedding at a vacation rental in Texas?

It depends on the city, county and any HOA. Many Texas cities regulate short-term rentals, noise, parking and occupancy, and some require special-event or tent permits. Ask the host or venue which permits apply, and confirm with the city or county before you sign.

Do I need event insurance for an Airbnb wedding?

You should plan on it. A rental host's own coverage may be written for overnight stays rather than events, and many hosts and venues ask couples for a one-day event liability policy and ask vendors such as caterers and bartenders for proof of insurance. Get the requirement in writing before booking.

How many guests can attend a wedding at a vacation rental?

Only as many as the host's house rules, the local occupancy rules and the property's parking allow. Overnight capacity and event capacity are often different numbers: The Penrose House, for example, sleeps 28 in seven bedrooms and hosts up to 50 event guests.

How much does an Airbnb-style wedding venue cost?

Costs vary widely by date, guest count and how many nights of lodging are included, so compare quotes on the same basis. For The Penrose House, see the current packages on our pricing page or contact us for a personalized quote.

Can wedding guests stay overnight at The Penrose House?

Yes. The Penrose House has seven bedrooms that sleep up to 28 guests, and wedding weekends include a two-night stay so the wedding party and family can get ready, celebrate and wake up together on the estate.

The Bottom Line

An Airbnb wedding can work for a tiny, quiet ceremony with a host who has said yes in writing. For anything bigger, a private estate that is booked and contracted for events gives you the same house-party feeling with clear hours, vendor rules and a host who expects a wedding. Tour two or three of the venues above and ask each one the five questions in our checklist.
